From the kitchen table to the local cafรฉ
Maya starts every Tuesday by asking what Liam wants to cook โ not what's easiest, but what he actually wants. Last month it was sourdough. They spent three mornings getting the starter right. The following week, Liam asked if they could walk to the cafรฉ down the road and order one to compare. That walk became a weekly ritual. Maya didn't plan it. She just followed his lead.
Having Maya here on Tuesday mornings changed everything. Liam actually gets up now โ not because he has to, but because he wants to show her what he made.

The job that wasn't supposed to happen
Kofi had been on three job programs before James. Each one ended the same way โ too fast, too loud, too much at once. James spent two months just visiting different workplaces with Kofi on his days off, no pressure, no forms. By the time Kofi started at the plant nursery, he already knew the manager's name. He's been there fourteen months. He waters the ferns on Fridays.
My brother used to say 'I can't' about everything. James never argues with that. He just asks, 'what would make it easier?' That one question changed the whole relationship.
Her apartment. Her schedule.
When Rosie moved into her own place at 24, her parents were terrified. Priya came three mornings a week โ not to manage, but to think through the week together. They built a planner on the fridge with pictures Rosie chose herself. Within six months, Rosie was calling the GP herself, managing her own groceries, and telling Priya when she didn't need her for something anymore. That last part was Priya's goal from the start.
Priya doesn't do things for Rosie. She sits beside her and figures it out together. That sounds small but it's everything โ Rosie has started calling her own appointments now.
You've been carrying this
long enough.
